World’s Shortest Commercial Jet Flight | Kinshasa – Brazzaville

Thunderstorm during the world’s shortest commercial jet flight, from Kinshasa to Brazzaville.

Lasting exactly 10 minutes, ASKY Airlines 44 (KP44) from Kinshasa to Brazzaville is the world’s shortest scheduled commercial flight operated by a jet. Kinshasa and Brazzaville are the capitals of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo respectively. Directly opposite each other on the Congo River, the only options for crossing at this point are ferry and flight. ASKY Airlines 44 is also the world’s 2nd shortest international commercial flight, after St. Maarten -Anguilla.

Our flight was particularly interesting as it took off up river to avoid thunderstorms. As it was dark outside, some great lightning was visible.
