La Paz-El Alto Intl. Airport, The highest international airport in the world (13,325’)

At an elevation of 13,325 feet (~4060m), La Paz-El Alto airport is the highest international airport in the world. The low air density means reduced lift, so airplanes have to takeoff and land at higher speeds and the effects of engine power and air braking systems are substantially reduced. Many aircraft types, especially wide-body airplanes, cannot operate efficiently or safely at this airport.
