It’s a beautiful day, if not an odd one, in Sajama village. We’ve been snowed in for over a day in what I’m told is highly unusual weather here. The snowfield usually doesn’t start until after high camp (5,700m) but here it is in the village (4,200m). Unfortunately, all of this means we’ve missed the only weather window on Sajama, which is today and tomorrow. The following morning, the earliest we could get there, the visibility will be clear but the winds pick up to 55km/hr near high camp and 60km/hr on the summit and these have been trending upwards since we arrived. It’s a bit out of our comfort zone now so we’ve had to cancel that and settle for Acotango.

Frustratingly, even on a beautiful day like this we’re still stuck here because the road isn’t clear yet. So we’ll leave for Acotango at 4am tomorrow, providing the weather forecast doesn’t change.
